Polyps – a warning sign of colon cancer?
–from “Lose Stubborn Weight: Become Fit and Super-healthy” by Mimi Shekoski, PhD
Toxins that are retained too long in a clogged colon can fester and create a wide range of diseases, including cancer. According to the Mayo Clinic, there are more than 200,000 colon cancer cases per year in U.S. alone, and early cases can begin as noncancerous polyps. If you have had polyp(s) removed, you need to change your eating habits and detox your colon to prevent colon cancer or other health issues that could arise in the future.
Colonoscopy
Many people over the age of fifty don’t get colonoscopies because they know their colons are healthy from eating healthy and doing intestinal detoxes. (My clients, my spouse, and myself can vouch for that.) What I preach is prevention so your body doesn’t have to go through invasive procedures.
A side note: anesthesia can cause memory loss
Did you know that for some people over a certain age, anesthesia can cause memory loss leading to Alzheimer’s Disease? (source: “The brain and Behavior” by Dr. Daniel Amen”) It happened to my mom who lost most of her short-term memory after two partial knee surgeries for her osteoarthritis. She used to have the best memory, remembering every family member, relative, or friends’ birthday and phone number without even looking it up. After her surgeries, she didn’t even remember her grandkids’ names and ages, and forgot what she had just eaten or was just told. The pain in her knees got better, but she had to move into an assisted living home. It’s very sad and disturbing because I feel like I lost 90 percent of my mom.
According to a physical therapist in Florida, memory loss happens quite frequently after people go under anesthesia for surgery, especially older people. A brain doctor said that once brain cells are dead, they are gone forever. You know what? Now I do everything I can to avoid surgeries and focus on prevention! I’m sure you will too!
